Dining and entertainment spaces are finally starting to welcome patrons back to some semblance of normalcy in Magic City. And while some businesses had to shutter during the peak of the pandemic, many locales used the time to make some updates like refreshing their menus, reinventing their spaces, and adding pop-up concepts to excite locals and tourists alike. From a Tulum-inspired beach club to seasonal menus and new museum exhibits, here’s what you need to check out in the 305.

1 Beach Club at 1 Hotel South Beach

Set to open this weekend, 1 Beach Club will infuse the 1 Hotel’s signature aesthetic of mindfulness and wellness in their new Tulum-inspired alfresco retreat. Its vast landscape will feature sprawling daybeds, overstuffed pillows, and natural materials inviting guests to unwind and renew. Also opening within 1 Beach Club is Wave, an outdoor restaurant that will have a “Barefoot Brunch” as part of their weekend programming with sea-to-table fare mixed with Latin flavors. Signature menu items will include a mezze platter, Greek salad served family style, and a Seafood Tower served with lobster, mussels, oysters, jumbo shrimp, tuna tartar, and seasonal crab. Wave will feature an iconic center bar serving refreshing craft cocktails.

ARTECHOUSE Opens Multi-Sensory Installation, Aqueous

ARTECHOUSE, the nation’s first art space dedicated to digital and experiential art, presents Aqueous, an immersive multimedia installation inspired by Pantone Color of the Year 2020, “Classic Blue”. Aqueous exhibit is part of the Submerge series, opening November 14 at its location in South Beach. The installation is an abstract exploration of liquid — its textures, movements, sounds, sensations and relationship with light — so visitors can expect to be plunged into a water-filled world, inspired to create digital bioluminescence and contemplate the effect of Classic Blue on their personal journey.

Mayami Mexicantina & Bar in Wynwood

Newly opened this month in the heart of Wynwood, Mayami is a Mexican Cantina & Bar brought to life by the team behind El Patio Wynwood. The 10,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor restaurant and lounge transports guests to ancient civilization with its Mayan Revival architecture featuring stone sculptures, wood accents and carvings, and traditional mural paintings. The 200-seat restaurant will highlight a wide variety of authentic regional Mexican dishes made with fresh, artisanal ingredients, complemented by an expansive list of handcrafted cocktails and insect-infused Mezcal shots. Dining is available for lunch, happy hour, dinner and weekend brunch, animated by an upbeat party-atmosphere with Tulum vibes.

Swan’s Seasonal Menu

David Grutman and Pharrell’s Miami Design District hotspot, Swan, has a new seasonal menu centered around market-driven ingredients. Highlights include a burrata with balsamic, fig, pistachio, and grilled sourdough, a brussels sprouts and pistachio pizza with camembert and pesto, short rib au poivre for two, and butternut squash ravioli. The new menu also debuts new desserts such as the S’mores Swiss Roll with a graham cracker crumble and rocky road ice cream, Blueberry Crostata with pear, pistachio frangipan, and froyo ice cream. The food menu is complemented by tasty new cocktails like the Spicy Jaja Margarita and the Lychee Mule. Swan is currently open for indoor and outdoor seating, serving dinner and weekend brunch.

The Hyde Away at SLS South Beach

Set around the SLS South Beach’s infamous Hyde Beach pool, The Hyde Away has created an elevated poolside dining experience with tableside mixology, as well as a roaming poke cart to customize the catch of the day. The menu is inspired by fresh and local flavors through signature dishes such as grilled Atlantic Lobster, Spanish octopus with red bell pepper remoulade, and a King Crab and Wagyu sushi roll. Guests can expect a rotation of resident DJs, unique entertainment, and an array of surprise experiences to energize your pool day from Friday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Margot Natural Wine Bar

Margot Natural Wine Bar is the latest creation from Bar Lab founders, Elad Zvi and Gabe Orta, ranked on the World’s 50 Best Bars lists multiple years in a row. A new natural wine pop-up concept located in South Beach’s iconic Nikki Beach, Margot is one of the few spots in Miami Beach to enjoy a glass of natural wine with your feet in the sand for a beachy, socially distanced experience. Skyviews Miami Observation Wheel

Miami is getting its very first public ferris wheel dubbed Skyviews, which is set to celebrate its grand opening this week. The soaring 176-foot-tall structure is perched at the edge of Bayside Marketplace along Biscayne, offering riders impressive and unobstructed views of downtown and South Beach. The observation wheel houses 42 enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas, in addition to a singular VIP gondola with Ferrari-inspired leather bucket seats, decked out with LED lights and a glass-bottom floor. The ferris wheel will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and tickets are available at a ticket booth on-site or online. Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is reopening its doors with the unveiling of its new exhibition, “Raúl de Nieves: Eternal Return and The Obsidian Heart.” Curated by Risa Puleo, the artists worked closely to design the exhibition as an immersive experience in which individual sculptures, installations, and audio performances blend into a cohesive experience of the spiritual, familial, and self across time. Multimedia artist, performer and musician, de Nieves, drew inspiration from childhood memories in his hometown of Michoacá, Mexico, where public religious rituals and private devotional acts included elaborate costuming, performances, and theatrical components. Later he found his artistic voice in queer punk scenes in San Diego, San Francisco, and New York City. The exhibition will be on view through March 21, 2021.
